Stakeholder Consultations
On December 17th, IHCantabria hosted the second Stakeholder Consultation Round for the MARBEFES Project. The goal is to develop political and management tools that enhance decision-making processes towards linking marine biodiversity and the benefits provided by marine ecosystems.
Organized by IHCantabria, the event brought together key stakeholders from coastal and marine sectors to collaborate on shaping the project’s direction.
The mission:
To identify ecological, socio-cultural, and economic priorities and design a practical toolbox for policymakers and managers.
Highlights of the day included:
Revisiting the priorities identified during the first consultation round.
Using BowTie diagrams to link critical factors.
Examining change scenarios and governance strategies.
Promoting ocean literacy and citizen science initiatives.
The insights and contributions from participants were crucial to advancing MARBEFES' core objective: co-developing a decision-making support system that is both practical and accessible to stakeholders.
Thank you to all attendees for your valuable contributions and dedication to the sustainable management and conservation of our coastal and marine areas.
