Conference ‘Humans and the European Marine Environment – Adaptation to Climate and Biodiversity Change’

The Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IO PAN) invites you to an interdisciplinary conference organized as part of the implementation of the MARBEFES project, 

The event will focus on climate change, biodiversity, and the multifaceted relationships between humans and the marine environment.

The conference welcomes representatives of the natural sciences, humanities, economics, and the arts. The programme will be structured around three main thematic areas:

The Sea in Public Consciousness – perceptions of the sea, social expectations, and cultural narratives
The Sea in Art – how art communicates marine issues and acts as a universal language
The Sea as an Opportunity and a Resource – marine ecosystem services, resource valuation, and innovative uses of the marine environment

 

The accompanying event is the exhibition titled: "In the Depth. Living Seas, Living Bodies" at the State Art Gallery in Sopot.

Participation in the conference (on-site or online) is free of charge, but prior registration is required due to limited number of places.
