Another MARBEFES article!
A new MARBEFES-flagged paper for the Sardinian BBT, entitled ‘Taxonomic and functional diversity of nematode fauna: two sides of the same coin in the ecological quality assessment of transitional environments’, has been recently published in Estuarine, Coastal and Shelf Science by Eleonora Grassi et al.
Using the nematode faunal list of the Cabras Lagoon, authors analyzed together nematode-based taxonomic and functional indicators. They results underline that the combined use of taxonomic and functional tools improves the assessment of the environmental quality of lagoon ecosystems.
Further analysis of historical datasets as well new field work in the Sardinian BBT are planned within MARBEFES activities...more to come!
This paper is dedicated to the memory of our friend and colleague Davide Tagliapietra who greatly inspired our work on coastal transitional ecosystems.
